faithbeckett although she isn't really in the fandom anymore she was the one who first introduced me to McShep and started my lifeling love affair with them but also she was foolish enough to Marry me and the lovely null (What she did I have the certificate to prove it :P) and the song I was listening to whilst writing it was the always lovely Marry me by Train.

Total and utter fluff
John Sheppard was sure of three things in life. One the sun shone brighter on Atlantis, two there was very little difference between Athosian Meat and prime rib and three when you really needed him to, Rodney McKay found it a physical impossibility to shut up.
Which is how John found himself here, in the middle of the mess hall, down on one knee with Rodney standing above him, his mouth open like a gaping fish. He had spent the last twenty minutes trying to get him shut up and now that he finally had John wasn’t sure how to put what he wanted to say into actual words.
“Sheppard, what are you doing?” The confusion in Rodney’s voice was coloured with warmth and what John was hoping was hope. It was this and the brightness of Rodney’s eyes that finally pushed the words out of John’s mouth.
“I love you. You know I do and I’m happy with you,” John swallowed as his voice cracked on the last word, sending him an octave higher than even dogs were comfortable with. Taking a deep breath he forced himself to calm down and ignore the forty sets of eyes on him and focus on the only ones that mattered. “I’m happier than I thought I ever could be and we’re good together, we make each other normal I was going to say complete but hey there is only so far I’m willing to make an ass of myself so what I’m trying to say is marry m….”
His last word ended in a grunt as he was dragged to his feet, Rodney’s hand strong and sure as they steadied him. Before he could say anything else Rodney’s lips were on his own. John’s body relaxed into Rodney’s as in amongst the catcalls and whistles, he felt a soft but distinct yes whispered against his lips.
