Oct. 15th, 2010 01:00 amSometimes the world is a scary place to raise kids in. This video

maharet83's journal made me think a lot about the recent stories of the young kids that took their own life because of bullying over their sexual orientation or in some cases their perceived sexual orientation.
I don't really know how to put into words how this all makes me feel, I look at my son and the very idea of someone hurting him, or making him feel like he is anything but the centre of the universe makes me want to cause someone pain. My heart goes out to all of the families who have lost their children this way recently, and I just wish we had more people in this world like Joel Burns to tell kids that it will get better. That the world doesn't end at high school.
I had lots of random thoughts I wanted to share but for some reason no words are coming, and nothing I can say tops what this man says anyway, but I just wish that we lived in a world where these words didn't even need to be said. Oh and a world also where people do not use religion or their version of it to spew hateful nonsense. If anyone listens to a literal interpretation of the bible it would tell you that as I used artificial means to conceive my child he has no soul and will burn in hell, and that is just as ridiculous as anyone using the same sort of argument against someone loving someone of the same sex.
