I'm starting to panic, about the amount of people on my flist who are saying Hey Up, I've now got a DW account, I'm totally not leaving LJ, but will be over there too!!!

This is a warning to you all, if I wake up one morning and find my flist page empty, because you have all done a mass exodus. I will cry!!!

Then I will totally track you down, and don't think I can't autumn_lilacs taught me totally mad tracking people skills, and she only said I couldn’t use them to stalk Jensen/Jared/Misha/JDM, nothing about you guys!!!!!!!!

On a more sensible note, if any of you guys are jumping ship, elt me know your user name over there, so I can keep track of you.

if its any consolation, such things happened in any fandom. Not sure, if you heard about svmaria in clex fandom, but she must have had the same amount of sockpuppets:

this incident pretty much hurt SV fandom for a while, and is still hurting, but yeah, i guess, its something fandom , any fandom , will always have to live with.
what really hurt me, wasnt that maria turned out to be such a liar, or that she used me to get into fandom, coz I never really was that close friends with her, but rather, that she got so close to many of my friends, and hurted them so much. it was a nightmare the whole thing.

well, for me, I am 30, and for how long, that really depends on how you define fandom:
online fandom, I think, since 2001, though i had been lurking until 2004/2005, before I really used my LJ to make comments and even later, before i made some own entries. (I rather prefer to use communities to do stuff, and well, not being an artistic person myself, i rather write recs, and run communities and such. Never felt much urge to write, or make manips and vids..). I came to find online fandom via .. i think it was Highlander fandom and Pretender, both shows from the 90 as well. and shortly after that, in 2003, SV was aired in germany on tv, and i immediately was seeking out fics, when seeing the pilot.
thats how I found the SSA, and after the clex yahoo groups. Being only on the yahoo groups for 1 year, it was also the year, where fandom really started to migrate over to LJ, so i got my invite from some fellow group member.

speaking of non online fandom, I have had been reading printed fanzines since I am twelve or so :)
used to be a big star trek and star wars fan, and reading all the gen fanfiction during my teenage years and of course, all the tie-in novels. I still have them all at home :)

Yep, all fandom has it’s share of nastiness I’ve found, there were a few rally, really nasty shipping wars in the DA and HP fandom that made me wonder what is WRONG with people, although I have to say found spn fandom as a whole to be a really nice place :)

I remember reading briefly about the sv Maria thing on your lj when we first met, and thinking it was a tuly horrendous situation, how any woman can lie about something that tragic is just beyond me!!! I can understand why it hurt so many people, and like you said, you feel guilty about introducing your friends to someone who then turns around and does something like that.

I’m glad I didn’t let my experiences stop me getting involved in fandom again though as I have met some total sweethearts here.

Star Wars and Star Trek are both AWESOME.

Are you looking forward to the new movie? I think it is fair to say that ST is where most of fandom and fanfic started :D

I havn’t really got involved with too many sv comms, as my passion truly lies with spn :D but the couple of people I have met from there, yourself, moonie and twinsarein have all been lovely. I keep saying I’m going to branch out and get into sv fandom and BTVS fandom, but barely have enough time as it is :D, although I do also have lanning listed on my flist as it is her stories that got me ADDICTED to Clex :D

spn can be pretty nasty too, especially considering all the wincest stories.
and all the strange people, who have problems with angels having sex with humans in fics. like fictional characters having fictional sex is an incredible problem for some people outside of fandom, inside of fandom, there are also lots of nutjobs. or het and gen fans, who feels oppressed by slash fans, or rather the mere existence of slash fandom.
or you know, in sv , we have those het shippers like cloiser and chlarkers, who dont get along. whose mindset i completely dont understand.
like sure, there is show canon, and then we have all our fan-fictional world and AUs . why is it so important to make your own ship the ONE AND TRUE SHIP ONLY?!?


I think, every fandom is as much nice or nasty as the people you know. and the right attitude to stay away from the nutjobs as far as possible.

well, and regarding maria, i think, someone, who did as much as she did, and still doing, coz i feel like, whenever you see me making a post about those south american friends, she is again creeping around ... my opinion is now after 3 years, she really needs medical and psychological help.
i know that we all here are being seen by *normal* people outside of fandom , as insane on some level, but the level of insanity, that maria has, is beyond ours. miscarriage and lies like this happens in RL, and always has happened online. only, if you are just moderately normal, you dont carry it on like for 5 or 6 years. This level of obsession and insanity requires medical help.

and I am totally looking forward to the new ST franchise, those trailers LOOK Awesome! and of course, sylar as spock! its looks hellish good!

yeah, since spn is pretty big its keeping you fairly occupied, so really no need to get involved into other places much, plus, clex is pretty much past its peaktime for 3 years now. we are keeping low level, but its quite nice, too. I am pretty much also more and more into Merlin, and spn coz of castiel :)

and HL is , lol, very much immortal :D
