Re: jesus

That actually makes me feel better it wasn’t your lj I think it was the actual DW community. I just pick things up wrong, consistently :D

God, where to start. I first started fandom backaround 97 with X-Files, then shifted into Buffy. With X-Files I was mainly a lurker, but I came out of shell with Buffy and posted on a message board called the Bronze A LOT!!!, I met some REALLY, REALLY good friends there. But then rl imposed itself, I was getting married etc, and I went back to rl, then I started getting involved over at fanforum in about 2001/2002, mainly Dark Angel boards (I was one of the very few Max/Zack shippers) and again met some really, really nice friends. Then moved into Harry Potter where I was a semi lurker, but still spoke to a lot of people, never wrote any fic or anything for HP. But then a lot of the people I knew started to either become bnf’s or were friends of bnf’s and things started getting really cliquey. Then there was a massive uproar about some peoples attitude to a poor woman who had cancer, and a lot of people who I thought I could trust, turned into people I barely knew, and acted in a way that was reprehensible and left a really sour taste in my mouth, which pretty much made me not only delurk, but leave HP fandom, almost altogether. I still followed a few stories, but didn’t interact with anyone AT ALL (I found out at a later stage that one of the people I thought I knew slightly was actually about 60 different sock puppets, but that is a whole other story) so continued lurking. Then I started my literature degree and thought that going back to doing Beta work and maybe writing some fic, would be a way to work on my grammar etc. Also since the arrival of Castiel I was becoming more and more obsessed with spn at the time so went hunting for spn fic to beta. Most of the spn fandom seems to be based on LJ, and I had never had one before (when LJ first became big it was all done by either invite code or paid accounts) so I decided what the hay.

I started betaing for Amy, not long after. Shortly after that I started writing Choices (a bunny that had been running around my head for a long time) and then joined the DeanCastiel community (which is made of awesome), around about Christmas, I had made quite a few good friends and over the start of this year LJ has really started to feel like home to me :D (so much so that I now completely ignore my poor bebo, but that is filled with r/l friends that I see all the time anyway) wherhas LJ is for all my fandom love :D Most of my fannish activity centres around spn, although I do have a couple of sv, BTVS and TSCC friends too :D

Whew, and that is a long ass comment :D oh and I’m 32 :D I thought I had put that in my user info, must have left it out because of the Deanial

What about you? Have you been in fandom long?
